This summit has been organised by student leaders from schools in the Yong Zhao Network.
Invitation:
We are pleased to invite you and your Yong Zhao team to the inaugural “Student Summit” for staff and students involved in either Network #1 (PEER) or the newly formed Network #2.
The focus of this summit is strengthening ‘Student Voice’ in the Department for Education.
In the spirit of entrepreneurship, this Summit aims to provide an opportunity for students to work collaboratively to explore ways of strengthening student voice in the Department for Education.
Provocation for the Day:
“For us to achieve a World Class System, should students – as key stakeholders in schooling – be involved in the Department’s decision-making processes?”
Program:
We are delighted that both the Chief Executive of the Department for Education, Rick Persse, and the Chief Executive of the SACE-Board, Professor Martin Westwell, have agreed to be our keynote speakers.
Both speakers will provide food for thought prior to students working in school groups to discuss and respond to our provocation for the day.
The day’s program will conclude with each school presenting its “elevator pitch” for change to the whole group.
Before leaving for the day, students will be asked to consider the next steps.
